A round cable grommet surrounds a circular opening to separate the lead from its cut edge. The U-shaped description refers to a profile that should be checked in section against the panel interface. The outside circle alone does not show the groove width or the space available through the center.
Compare the mounting dimensions with the finished panel and verify that the flange clears nearby features. Check the route of any connector or sleeve that must be passed through during assembly. Custom material, hardness and profile options can accommodate requirements beyond an existing size.
Fit the grommet around a clean, deburred opening and inspect the channel for continuous seating. Do not leave one portion rolled beneath the panel while the rest appears secure. Once the cable is routed, examine the hidden side again to confirm that the assembly action has not disturbed the fit. During maintenance, look for abrasion where the cable bears against the inner edge and address an unsuitable route rather than relying on the grommet to restrain the cable.
