A molded rubber housing seal cap closes a matching housing feature to help exclude dirt and moisture. Material, dimensions, hardness and color can be customized around the housing and its required closure contact. Its performance in an enclosure depends on how the cap engages that particular housing.
Examine the mating rim for changes in height, corners and local projections. The cap needs an even seating path; pressing harder on one side can disguise interference elsewhere. Determine whether the enclosure requires routine access, since a removable closure must balance secure engagement with a practical opening motion.
Choose the compound and contact geometry for the actual temperature, cleaning routine and moisture exposure around the housing. Include the conditions beneath the cap as well as those on its visible exterior when selecting the finished configuration.
Before closing, remove debris from the seating surface and inspect the cap for distortion. After seating, work around the perimeter with a visual check for lifted sections. Keep any internal wire or other component clear of the rim so it cannot become trapped between the cap and housing.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Determine whether the enclosure requires routine access, since a removable closure must balance secure engagement with a practical opening motion. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
