A rubber oblong grommet can be customized in FKM or EPDM for an elongated cable opening. Select the finished compound for the actual environment and contact conditions. The long and short dimensions, end contours and retaining section should independently match the panel cutout and thickness.
Check the full profile during fitting rather than stretching one end to reach the opening. An oblong grommet may appear secure along a long side while a rounded end remains displaced. Remove burrs or splinters from the cutout and inspect the retaining edge after the cables have been routed.
Keep FKM and EPDM versions identified by their actual compound and geometry, even if their colors match. A material change should be assessed in the finished seat rather than assumed equivalent from appearance. During maintenance, look for rubbing inside the passage and damage at the ends. Correct cable tension or a tight bend if it repeatedly lifts one part of the perimeter, so the replacement remains positioned around the intended route.
