Product Overview

A rubber seal strip provides an elongated contact section along a matching closure. For a self-adhesive design, the backing locates the strip on one surface while the rubber meets the opposing face. The closed gap, contact pressure and bond area must be considered together.

Measure the gap around the actual closure path. Hinges or locating features can make the two faces approach differently at opposite ends. The strip should have a defined compression space without being forced sideways out of its position. Check corners and any joint between sections, where a break or overlap can change the contact.

The 3M reference should be associated with an exact adhesive selection appropriate to the substrate. Brand naming alone does not define preparation, application temperature or the interval before loading. ETOL can customize the rubber profile and material around the required closure and selected backing.

Install the strip without stretching it, and follow the application requirements before closing the assembly. Inspect the contact pattern after a representative trial, looking for areas that remain untouched or are excessively flattened. If an environmental seal is required, evaluate the entire closure under the intended conditions rather than judging by compression alone.

During maintenance, examine exposed ends for lift and clean the opposing contact surface. A change to hinge position, closure hardware or pad thickness should trigger a new check of the gap instead of adding another layer to the existing strip.

Material options
Custom silicone or rubber formulation, with dimensions and color adapted to the mating component.
Hardness range
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A; rubber: 30–90 Shore A. Assess the grade against this fit requirement: The closed gap, contact pressure and bond area must be considered together.
Custom profile & fit
Check corners and any joint between sections, where a break or overlap can change the contact.
Assembly considerations
Install the strip without stretching it, and follow the application requirements before closing the assembly.
Design check
Inspect the contact pattern after a representative trial, looking for areas that remain untouched or are excessively flattened.

Photos illustrate structure or material only. A change to hinge position, closure hardware or pad thickness should trigger a new check of the gap instead of adding another layer to the existing strip. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
