A split rubber grommet can be configured for fitting around an existing cable, while a blind blanking form closes an unused opening. Selecting the appropriate center configuration establishes whether the opening carries a cable or remains fully covered. ETOL offers custom structure, material, dimensions, hardness and color for the part.
For a split entry, establish how the split closes once the grommet is in the panel. The edges should meet in the designed relationship without being forced apart by an oversized cable. Choose the split layout and any retaining features around the cable and panel, then assess the closed joint for the required exposure.
For a blanking use, the center needs to remain closed rather than be treated as an improvised cable passage. Cutting a solid part changes the contact and can initiate tearing; it is not equivalent to a designed split construction.
Check the panel hole, sheet thickness and clearance around the retaining flange before fitting either form. During servicing, inspect the split or closed center as well as the outer engagement. A cable pulled diagonally can disturb the joint while the front flange still looks seated. Route and support the cable to avoid using the grommet as the restraint for an unsupported span.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. Selecting the appropriate center configuration establishes whether the opening carries a cable or remains fully covered. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
