Oblong rubber panel grommets can close elongated openings where a round plug would leave unused space. This blind format covers the opening with a solid center and retains around its perimeter. The long sides and curved ends need to fit the same cutout accurately; excessive stretching at the ends can draw the sides inward and weaken the seat.
Measure the opening length, width, end shape, and panel thickness. Allow for the finished edge condition rather than selecting from the overall visible size alone. An uneven coating or a sharp burr at one end can keep the lip from settling even when most of the component appears flush.
Install progressively around the perimeter using pressure close to the retaining edge. Pushing hard into the center can bow the blanking section through the hole without seating the rim. Once installed, check the long edges for waviness and confirm the rear lip has engaged. If the opening is later reused for wiring, replace the blank with an appropriately designed passage component.
