A rubber cable bung in silicone is developed around the routed cable and the surrounding panel opening. A solid closure blocks the passage, while a cable-grommet configuration needs a defined interface around the routed cable. These are different arrangements even if the visible outer profile is similar.
Choose the material and geometry for the selected use, including the panel thickness and available depth. If a cable passage is required, define it as part of the molded design rather than puncturing a solid plug during installation. The resulting sealing requirement needs evaluation in the completed assembly.
Fit the part in its designated location and check the retained edge around the opening. Keep any routed cable supported so it does not pull the component out of its seat. During replacement, preserve the intended solid or passage configuration and compare the actual mating surfaces. A similar head shape does not establish that another stopper or grommet performs the same function beneath the panel.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A solid closure blocks the passage, while a cable-grommet configuration needs a defined interface around the routed cable. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
