Product Overview

Silicone cable grommets cover a panel opening where a cable passes through a rigid wall. The flange and groove locate the part around the edge, while the center provides the required cable passage. Buna N, commonly called nitrile rubber, and silicone are separate compound choices. Select the material for the actual cable-entry conditions while preserving the required molded profile.

First establish the mechanical fit. Measure the panel opening, panel thickness and outside dimensions of the cable or bundle. Check the room available for the flange on both sides of the panel and consider whether a connector needs to pass through during assembly. The finished grommet should locate securely without the wiring forcing it out of the retaining groove.

Next describe the environment at the entry point. Include any contact with oils, cleaning fluids, heat or outdoor conditions, and ask ETOL to review the proposed compound for those exposures. The same external profile may be supplied in different materials, but that does not mean each version has the same properties. Keep the selected compound associated with the required dimensions so a replacement preserves both material suitability and the panel fit.

Install silicone cable grommets after the opening has been deburred and cleaned. Inspect the groove around the full perimeter before routing the cable, especially on the side of the panel that becomes difficult to access later. Where the wiring is pulled or moved, assess the need for separate retention and strain relief. Check for abrasion or displacement during servicing and replace a damaged part with the specified compound and geometry. For a useful inquiry, provide the cable-entry drawing and the actual exposure conditions together; dimensional fit and material selection are both necessary to define the intended component.
