A rubber washer closes a small interface by bringing a flexible annular surface into contact with the surrounding components. For a sealing application, the opening must clear the intended shaft, fastener, or passage while leaving enough material around it to form a continuous contact band. This custom product can be made in a shape and material suited to the receiving assembly.
The outer diameter is only part of the selection. A wide washer may extend over a recess, while a narrow one may leave too little contact area beneath a flange. Thickness affects both the initial gap and how much the part can compress when the joint is tightened. Adjacent faces should meet evenly so that one edge does not carry the whole clamping force.
Use the actual fluid, temperature, and cleaning conditions to choose the compound. Water sealing depends on the complete joint, including surface condition and assembly pressure. After opening the connection, examine the washer for cuts or permanent flattening before fitting it again.
