Selected for the contact, temperature and movement
Define the visible surfaces and intended color
Develop holes, lips and walls around the mating parts
Match the attachment and installation method
Rubber plugs for hole closure can be custom molded to match an unused opening and its surrounding structure. The inserted or retained portion determines how the component stays in place, while the exposed face needs to suit the space around it. Size, material, hardness, and color can be adapted to the assembly.
Check the available room behind the hole. A nearby component may prevent a retaining feature from opening fully, leaving the plug only partly seated. Panel thickness and any shoulder within the opening should therefore be included in the dimensional definition.
Choose the compound for the actual contact environment and prepare the opening before fitting. Seat the plug squarely and inspect for an uneven edge. If removal is required, keep the intended handling area accessible after adjacent parts are installed. During maintenance, examine the retained section for cuts or permanent deformation. Use the matching profile for replacement so that the closure reaches its original seat rather than merely covering the visible opening.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. A nearby component may prevent a retaining feature from opening fully, leaving the plug only partly seated. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
