A molded square Buna-N grommet follows an opening whose straight sides and corner shapes need to match the retained profile. A nominal width alone does not show whether the corner radii and panel thickness will allow the part to seat evenly.
Develop the outer interface and wiring passage around the actual cutout. The selected compound should suit the entry environment, while the custom geometry keeps the wires clear of the edge. Consider any finish or local reinforcement that changes the effective panel thickness.
Orient the square profile before pressing the retaining section into place. Inspect the corners and both panel faces where access allows, then route the wiring without pulling the grommet diagonally. If one corner remains raised, compare the opening and molded profile rather than trimming the lip. During maintenance, check the square entry again after changing the wire route, because the new cable direction can concentrate contact at a different corner of the same opening.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A nominal width alone does not show whether the corner radii and panel thickness will allow the part to seat evenly. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
