Custom oblong rubber cable door grommets line elongated openings along a door-related cable route. The long and short dimensions, end curves and retaining groove need to match the opening. The cable position should also be checked through the door's intended movement, since a static fit alone may not reveal where the harness pulls against the entry.
Molded rubber dimensions, hardness and material can be selected around the panel and routing space. Compare the oblong outline with the finished cutout rather than stretching a similar-looking part into position. A mismatch at one curved end can displace a straight side as the harness moves.
Install the grommet with the retaining edge evenly engaged, then move the door through its normal range under the assembly's appropriate test conditions. Inspect for cable tension, contact with hinges or trim, and lifting at the opening. Keep the harness supported by the designated routing features. If the cable path changes during servicing, repeat the movement check before returning the door assembly to use.
