Flat rubber feet made as round rubber pads with adhesive backing form circular support or contact areas on a suitable base. In a warm operating environment, the rubber and adhesive need to be considered together. A formulation that suits the contact temperature does not automatically mean the selected adhesive will retain the pad under the same conditions.
The 3M designation should be related to the actual backing grade used for the application. Consider the substrate, surface preparation, and direction of force as well as temperature. A circular footprint should be fully supported; positioning it partly across a step or opening can create uneven loading and encourage an edge to lift.
Apply the pad at its planned location without contaminating the adhesive, then evaluate it within the assembled product. Check support height and retention under the intended operating conditions rather than judging the fresh bond alone. During inspection, look beneath the perimeter for early separation and remove debris from the exposed contact face. A pad that has shifted should be replaced after the cause is addressed, not simply pushed back into alignment.
