Automotive NBR rubber grommets cushion wire harnesses at panel openings. The custom retaining form and central passage should match the harness in its assembled condition, including wraps and the route to its next support. Material, size, hardness and color can be selected for the intended location.
Review the entry after nearby trim, brackets and other components are fitted. Those parts can alter the harness path from the position used during an early fit trial. A bundle that was initially centered may be pulled toward one panel edge once its final clips are closed. Keep the rubber fully seated and leave sufficient cable freedom to avoid a constant sideways pull at the opening.
Use the intended vehicle installation environment when selecting the finished compound; an NBR name alone does not define every exposure it can tolerate. During servicing, restore the clip locations and routing as well as the grommet. Check behind the visible flange for a trapped section, especially after the harness has been withdrawn or pushed through. Correct the route if wear reappears repeatedly at one side of the entry.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The custom retaining form and central passage should match the harness in its assembled condition, including wraps and the route to its next support. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
