Rubber shock absorber bushings place elastomer material within a mounting or passage interface. Structure, material, dimensions, hardness and color can be customized around the mating parts and the movement or contact required at the interface. The bushing's actual role needs to be defined within the equipment where it is fitted.
Identify whether the rubber is intended to carry compression, accommodate movement or protect a routed item from an edge. The mounting profile and surrounding hardware should support that role without introducing unintended contact. A bushing used around a fastener, for example, must be evaluated with that fastener and its mating parts rather than judged as a loose rubber ring.
Define the intended bearing load, permitted movement and any impact at the interface. Establish those requirements for the selected configuration before treating the bushing as a load-bearing component. For an edge-protection use, the stated purpose is cushioning against abrasion at a cutout.
Inspect the assembled part after any hardware is secured. Look for pinched rubber and a center forced out of alignment. If movement is part of the function, check the intended travel without stretching the bushing beyond its designed position. During replacement, compare the old wear pattern with the surrounding contact surfaces so the cause of uneven loading can be corrected.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The mounting profile and surrounding hardware should support that role without introducing unintended contact. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
