A Blind oval rubber grommet has a closed center instead of an open cable passage. It can cover an unused oval opening while its outer retaining profile sits around the panel edge. This makes the membrane condition and perimeter fit the two main areas to examine when selecting the part.
The closed surface should span the opening naturally, without being stretched taut to compensate for an undersized body. Match the retaining groove to the panel thickness and ensure that both flanges have room to settle. A close visual match on the exposed face does not establish that the groove is holding the far edge correctly.
Keep pointed tools away from the membrane when working near the installed cover. If the opening later needs to carry a cable, select a suitable cable entry rather than assuming an improvised slit will retain the original fit or sealing behavior. Replace a punctured cover when the opening is meant to remain closed.
