Product Overview

A rubber grommet for hole sealing needs to remain correctly seated around the opening it occupies. The retaining groove and outer lips locate it against the panel, while the center profile determines how the opening is closed or how a passing component is accommodated. These features should be matched to the actual installation.

Measure the panel thickness and inspect the hole edge as well as its diameter. A burr can damage the rubber during insertion, and a groove that is too narrow may leave a lip rolled underneath. Do not infer a complete closure from the outside shape if the selected center profile includes an opening.

Work the grommet into position evenly and inspect both sides where accessible. Check that any passing cable or component does not pull the insert away from the panel. Sealing performance should be assessed in the finished assembly under the intended exposure. During service, examine the area that contacts the hole edge for wear; damage there can remain hidden behind the visible flange while gradually affecting retention.

Material options
Custom rubber compound and color, selected for the contact conditions and required geometry.
Hardness range
30–90 Shore A for rubber. Assess the grade against this fit requirement: A burr can damage the rubber during insertion, and a groove that is too narrow may leave a lip rolled underneath.
Custom profile & fit
Measure the panel thickness and inspect the hole edge as well as its diameter.
Assembly considerations
Work the grommet into position evenly and inspect both sides where accessible.
Design check
Check that any passing cable or component does not pull the insert away from the panel.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
