A rubber grommet plug should be selected with the assembly sequence in mind, particularly where the same opening may be blanked or used for wiring. A closed version remains intact in an unused position, while a cable passage needs to accommodate the finished jacket. Decide which component reaches the panel before connectors or other large features restrict the fitting route.
Match the outer seat to the cutout and supporting thickness. For a cable configuration, check the passage after the grommet is seated, since the installed compression can affect its inner clearance. Keep the compound specification appropriate to the local environment.
Fit the part on a smooth edge and inspect the retaining lip before nearby hardware hides it. Arrange the cable afterward without transferring normal pull into the seat. During service, preserve the intended closed or open configuration rather than cutting an irregular passage into a blank. If the harness or panel changes, reassess the corresponding fit instead of relying on the appearance of the old component.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A closed version remains intact in an unused position, while a cable passage needs to accommodate the finished jacket. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
