Rubber bushes for wire connector assemblies provide a shaped interface where wiring approaches or passes through a supporting component. Their fit should allow the connector to be handled without making the rubber insert carry every push and pull. This is especially useful to consider when the connector is close to the panel and leaves little free cable between the two parts.
Choose the bush around the opening, supporting thickness, and cable covering at the contact point. Account for the connector's assembly route: the rubber may need to be fitted before terminals or housings are attached. Forcing a finished connector through a smaller passage can damage both the insert and the wiring.
During assembly, leave the intended cable slack and seat the bush before securing neighboring parts. Operate the connector through its normal connection and release motion, checking whether this lifts a lip or pulls the cable against an edge. If a sealing function is required, assess that complete interface independently of the connector's electrical connection. Inspect the seat again after repeated service access.
