Rubber grommets for wire protection cover the edges of openings that would otherwise contact wire jackets directly. The custom molded component can be shaped for the panel and cable route, with the rubber compound selected for the intended environment. Geometry and material choice need to be considered together.
Start with the dimensions that control the fit: the receiving opening, the finished wall thickness, and the wire or bundle outside shape. Then select the compound against the temperature and substances present at that position. A broad material description does not establish a fixed heat rating for every molded version.
Remove sharp edges before fitting the grommet and make sure its retaining area is fully engaged. Route the wire without pulling the insert out of alignment, adding the support required by the complete assembly. During inspection, look at the contact around the panel as well as the visible face. A small fold or cut can leave the wire exposed even when most of the grommet appears correctly seated.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. Start with the dimensions that control the fit: the receiving opening, the finished wall thickness, and the wire or bundle outside shape. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
