Match the attachment and installation method
A rectangular silicone grommet should match the opening's straight sides, corner radii and wall thickness. Overall length and width do not fully define retention. A corner mismatch can lift the lip or pull the adjacent side away from its seat even when the part appears close in size.
Custom dimensions, material, hardness and color allow the profile to follow the panel. Define the internal passage for the cable or component that occupies it, including the intended route. The grommet should seat independently of the inner part so insertion does not drag the retaining edge out.
During fitting, align the corners and engage the perimeter without concentrating stretch in one side. Inspect both faces where accessible before routing the cable fully. Check again after nearby supports are secured. Select the silicone formulation for the actual exposure and contact materials. During maintenance, look for recurring cuts at a corner or a long side that lifts under cable pull. Review the opening geometry and routing before changing only the rubber hardness.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. A corner mismatch can lift the lip or pull the adjacent side away from its seat even when the part appears close in size. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
