Metal parts coated with rubber combine a rigid underlying shape with a compliant outer interface. The coating's coverage and thickness determine which surfaces meet adjoining components through rubber and which metal features remain available for attachment. That distinction matters when the part is used within an automotive damping arrangement.
Check the full profile, including edges where the coating ends. An exposed metal area may be intentional at a fastening point but unsuitable at the working contact face. The selected rubber formulation must suit the actual temperature, fluids and movement at the installation location.
Evaluate the complete component for the required duty rather than assuming the coating alone establishes a particular damping level or corrosion protection.
