Product Overview

A die cutting 3M adhesive rubber pad can be shaped to fit a defined mounting footprint. The cut outline should leave enough supported bond area without extending into a screw recess, seam or curved edge. The selected 3M adhesive grade must match the receiving material and operating conditions; the brand name alone does not define the bond performance.

Custom rubber material, thickness, dimensions and color allow the pad to follow the product. Plan how the release liner will be removed and how the part will be positioned, particularly for small shapes that are difficult to handle without touching the adhesive.

Check the receiving surface for dust, residue and irregularities before application. Use the application conditions required by the selected adhesive, including appropriate pressure and time before loading. Evaluate the completed assembly under representative compression, sliding or handling forces.

Where several pads are supplied on one liner, consider the order in which they are removed and fitted. Small internal cutouts should release cleanly without leaving unwanted material on the adhesive face. Assess handling using the intended production method, especially when operators have limited space to position the part.

During inspection, look for lifting at narrow cut features or corners that extend beyond the supporting surface. A precisely cut outline is useful only if it lands in the intended position. If placement varies during assembly, consider a clearer locating reference so the pad's working area and bond remain consistent from one product to the next.

Material options
Rubber. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Rubber: 30–90 Shore A. Use the application conditions required by the selected adhesive, including appropriate pressure and time before loading.
Custom dimensions
Plan how the release liner will be removed and how the part will be positioned, particularly for small shapes that are difficult to handle without touching the adhesive.
Fit & assembly
The cut outline should leave enough supported bond area without extending into a screw recess, seam or curved edge.
Use & inspection
Where several pads are supplied on one liner, consider the order in which they are removed and fitted.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
