The EPDM cable grommet oval format brings an elongated panel opening and a cable contact region into one molded component. These interfaces have different jobs: the outer profile keeps the insert located in the panel, while the inner region fits around the cable. A good fit at one surface cannot compensate for a gap or distortion at the other.
Start with the cutout geometry and the cable's actual outside dimensions. Include cable covering variations, panel coating thickness, and the direction of the installed cable. Stretching the opening around an oversized cable can pull material away from the panel seat, particularly near the ends of an oval profile.
EPDM selection should reflect the substances and temperatures present at the entry. Where the connection has a sealing requirement, check the complete installation under the intended exposure and movement. Seat the perimeter evenly, leaving no rolled lip hidden behind the panel. For service replacement, examine the cutout for sharp damage and remove trapped dirt before fitting the new component.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. Stretching the opening around an oversized cable can pull material away from the panel seat, particularly near the ends of an oval profile. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a through-hole or blind-hole profile, then compare the dimensions for your panel and cable arrangement.
