A custom silicone sealing grommet forms a fitted interface around an automotive cable and its receiving opening. The cable jacket and panel edge provide different contact surfaces, so the bore and outer retaining profile must be developed together. The intended vehicle location determines the relevant exposure conditions.
Evaluate the actual jacket or harness wrapping at the passage. A seam, change in diameter, or sharply angled route can affect contact within the bore. The panel groove should match the finished thickness and opening shape. After securing the cable route, inspect both interfaces to confirm that the cable has not distorted the grommet or lifted the outer lip.
Select the silicone formulation for the temperature, fluids, and cleaning products encountered at that location. Keep the mating areas free from debris during installation and avoid dragging sharp connector edges through the rubber. Any required sealing performance should be assessed in the complete fitted configuration. Following harness repair, reassess the entry if the jacket or routing changes, even when the exterior of the grommet still appears properly seated.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The cable jacket and panel edge provide different contact surfaces, so the bore and outer retaining profile must be developed together. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
