A rubber flange gasket should be developed around the flange faces and the way fastening force reaches them. The gasket outline needs supported contact across the intended sealing region. Local gaps or uneven closing can concentrate compression near fasteners while leaving other areas less engaged.
Silicone rubber gasket material and nitrile rubber, also called NBR, are available alongside EPDM for this custom flange profile. Select the formulation for the medium, temperature and cleaning conditions, then coordinate dimensions and thickness with the joint. The complete assembly determines any pressure or sealing capability.
Inspect flange surfaces for damage and residue before fitting. Position the gasket using the developed references and follow the intended fastening sequence. Check that the part is not trapped outside its seat or pushed into an unsupported opening. During maintenance, compare the contact pattern around the flange rather than inspecting only one easily visible region. Uneven marks can reveal distortion or alignment that needs attention. If the flange hardware or closing arrangement changes, reassess gasket compression before retaining the same component configuration.
