A neoprene rubber O-ring should be selected for its actual groove and service conditions, while a silicone washer uses a different face contact. Keep these formats and compounds separately identified rather than choosing between them by similar outside dimensions. Where food contact is intended, assess the specific formulation and finished component for the actual substance, temperature, and cleaning process.
For the ring, define section size, installed diameter, and support in the direction of pressure. For the washer, check face dimensions and the closing gap. The chosen geometry should remain located without being stretched into an approximate seat.
