A cable grommet for wire connector assemblies protects the lead at its panel crossing. Custom NBR, SBR and other compound options can be selected for the application, while the geometry follows the cable and cutout. Connector size is a separate consideration from the working cable diameter.
Establish the assembly sequence before choosing the passage. A connector may pass through the bare panel but not through the fitted rubber. Where the grommet must be placed before termination, preserve that order rather than forcing the completed connector through a smaller opening.
Check the lead in its connected position as well. A short internal run can pull the grommet sideways when the connector is seated. The retaining region should stay engaged without becoming the component that restrains all cable movement. Evaluate any required insulation function within the complete electrical design. During servicing, release the appropriate connections and supports before withdrawing the cable. Inspect the bore for nicks and restore the intended seating before reuse. A replacement should match the connector assembly process as well as the cable's final fit.
