A rubber sealing washer provides a flexible annular boundary within a connection. Its position in the assembly determines which surfaces it seals and how the closing force reaches it. This custom part can match the opening, outer land, and thickness needed at that specific interface.
Consider the complete sequence of mating components. A washer placed on the wrong side of a shoulder may appear secure while leaving the intended path unsealed. Recesses and locating features should hold the part where it belongs as the joint is assembled.
The contact faces need to close evenly across the useful sealing width. Avoid folding the inner edge against the central feature or trapping debris under one side.
