A waterproof rubber grommet can be customized in round or square form for a cable opening. The external shape should suit the panel, while the internal interface follows the cable or bundle. Those two profiles do not need to be assumed identical, and both matter to any required moisture control.
For a square cutout, account for corner geometry and wall depth; for a round one, check the complete retained circumference. Select the passage around the finished cable size and its intended direction through the panel. Custom material and dimensions can support that relationship. Evaluate the assembled entry under the intended exposure after the cable is secured. A shape that sits neatly in the hole may still leave a gap around the cable. During later changes, reassess the fit when a new sleeve, wrap or wire is added. Avoid trimming the sealing area to create extra room without reviewing the entry, and replace a damaged lip before relying on the intended enclosure protection again.
