An oval cable wire silicone rubber grommet accommodates a shaped panel entry where a circular insert would leave gaps or fail to follow the opening. The long and short axes establish its orientation, while the outer retaining profile holds the rubber at the panel. Custom molding allows those features to match the intended cable route.
Measure both axes of the opening and the wall thickness before settling the profile. Rounded ends also matter: two openings with similar overall length and width can have different end shapes. The cable passage must be positioned so that the installed cable does not force the oval insert to rotate or lift at one end.
Fit the grommet progressively around its perimeter rather than forcing the entire long side through at once. After seating, examine the narrow ends as well as the straight sections for folds. Route the wires through their intended positions and check the fit again with the housing closed. The final layout should leave enough clearance for nearby connectors and for access during servicing.
