Match the attachment and installation method
A butyl stopper is a custom molded closure whose material and geometry should be selected together. Butyl and silicone are distinct rubber choices, so a version developed in one compound should not be treated as interchangeable with another solely because its outside dimensions match.
Consider what the stopper will contact, how long that contact lasts and how the assembly will be cleaned. These conditions help define the appropriate formulation. Dimensions, hardness and color can then be adapted around the opening and the required insertion and removal method.
Evaluate a sample in the actual mating opening. Check the amount of exposed material available for handling and whether the stopper remains seated during the intended operation. If an existing closure has changed shape, use the opening measurements as the primary fit reference rather than copying the distorted part alone. During routine replacement, keep the selected compound consistent with the approved assembly configuration and inspect the seating area for residue before installing the new stopper.
Photos illustrate structure or material appearance only. Dimensions, hardness and color can then be adapted around the opening and the required insertion and removal method. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
FIND THE RIGHT FIT
Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.
155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.
