A cable rubber sleeve grommet surrounds the cable beyond the immediate panel opening, creating an extended transition from the wall to the route outside it. The custom molded profile can combine the panel seat and sleeve in dimensions suited to the assembly. This relationship is useful where the first cable bend occurs close to the entry.
Determine where that bend should begin before choosing the sleeve length. A sleeve crowded against a connector or bracket can fold instead of following the cable naturally. Its bore must fit the jacket, while the retaining area needs to correspond to the opening and wall thickness.
Install the part without winding the sleeve around the cable, then check its shape after the route has been secured. Leave enough space for the intended movement and for inspection of the panel seat. The rubber sleeve should not be assumed to provide a specified pull resistance by itself. Use the cable support required by the equipment design, and recheck the entry whenever nearby wiring is repositioned during servicing.
