A silicone rubber cable grommet can be custom molded around the dimensions of a cable entry. Its shape links the outside profile that fits the panel with the inside passage that meets the cable. For an entry intended to resist water, the jacket geometry is an important starting point.
Use the actual outside shape of the cable rather than assuming that every jacket is perfectly round. Surface ribs, a flat profile, or a change near a connector can affect how the rubber meets it. The contact area should lie on the intended jacket section, with enough length available for the cable to follow its normal route.
The enclosure interface needs equal attention. A well-matched cable passage cannot close a gap caused by an unsuitable panel groove. Check both interfaces after assembly and evaluate the complete entry under the required exposure conditions. Avoid adding strain during routing, and inspect the grommet whenever a cable is replaced with a different size or construction. Custom fit is useful only when the installed components match the design.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The shape links the outside profile that fits the panel with the inside passage that meets the cable. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
