A cable harness grommet can be customized for assemblies that use different numbers or sizes of wires. The bundle's final shape matters as well as its approximate diameter. Adding a branch or changing a wrapping method may alter the contact at the bore without changing the surrounding panel.
For a family of sizes, keep the panel interface and cable interface identified separately. Some versions may share a retaining groove while needing a different internal passage. Others may require more outside space because of the harness route or connector assembly method. Custom molding allows the relevant dimensions to be coordinated for each configuration.
Evaluate representative populated harnesses rather than assuming that a smooth sizing gauge captures every fit condition. Check whether the bundle sits naturally through the opening after its supports are fixed. Identification through color or suitable marking can help prevent a similar size from being fitted at the wrong position. During service, review the grommet whenever the harness population changes, and inspect the bore for uneven compression around the new bundle.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. Adding a branch or changing a wrapping method may alter the contact at the bore without changing the surrounding panel. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
