A firewall harness grommet lines the opening where wiring passes through a partition. The rubber should remain seated while the harness is supported on both sides, with its compound and shape selected for the conditions at that location. The firewall application does not by itself define a fire resistance rating for the component.
Review the nearest harness clips on each side before finalizing the entry. If their positions pull the bundle in different directions, the grommet can experience a sideways load through the wall. Give the harness a natural transition through the opening and keep branch points from pressing directly on the retained lip.
Custom structure, dimensions, material, hardness and color are available. Fit the rubber while both sides remain accessible, then secure the harness and inspect the entry again. Check the concealed portion of the groove as well as the visible front edge. During later work, restore the intended clip positions and slack. A rerouted bundle can disturb the liner without an obvious change to the opening, so the protection should be checked after any harness adjustment.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The rubber should remain seated while the harness is supported on both sides, with its compound and shape selected for the conditions at that location. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
