Product Overview

Flexible accordion bellows need enough space for their folds at the shortest installed length as well as sufficient reach when extended. A profile chosen only by its resting length can become crowded when the mechanism closes, leaving parts of the wall trapped between neighboring surfaces.

Observe the proposed bellows at minimum travel. Check whether the folds remain within the available envelope and whether the end fittings press into the flexible section. Also inspect anything inside the body that could contact it as the folds move inward.

ETOL can customize the geometry, compound, hardness and color to suit the assembly. The design should account for all intended positions rather than relying on the operator to stop movement before the mechanism reaches its normal limit.

Install the part with the folds evenly arranged and no built-in twist. During a trial, move the assembly slowly through compression and extension to identify local catching or an end shifting out of place. Keep debris out of the fold spaces, particularly where material can become trapped when the body closes. Replace a damaged cover with the approved working profile, not simply another bellows of the same loose length.
