A rubber cable sleeve can protect more than the immediate edge of a pass through opening. By extending along the cable, a custom sleeve can place a compliant interface where the cable changes direction beside the panel. ETOL offers molded profiles in materials including silicone, natural rubber, EPDM and NBR, with geometry developed for the particular assembly.
The sleeve length should follow the route of the cable. Too little coverage can leave the jacket rubbing against an adjacent bracket, while unnecessary length may crowd a connector or encourage a tight bend. Consider the panel opening, wall thickness, cable diameter and the space on both sides as a single arrangement.
During installation, guide the cable through without folding the sleeve inward. Its retaining portion should seat independently of the cable's final routing, so that repositioning the harness does not peel the part away from the panel. Secure the harness where necessary rather than expecting a flexible sleeve to carry its weight.
For service access, check whether the sleeve can remain in place when the connector is disconnected. This can influence the preferred molding shape and assembly order. Inspect the transition between the sleeve and exposed cable for localized rubbing after the equipment has been assembled and operated.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. By extending along the cable, a custom sleeve can place a compliant interface where the cable changes direction beside the panel. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
