Oval rubber panel grommets fit elongated panel openings used for wiring harness routes. Their long and short axes allow the outer profile to follow the cutout while the center is configured for the passing harness. The design should account for the harness cross section and the way it approaches the opening, not just the overall panel hole size.
Harness bundles can change shape as wrapping, branches, or adjacent clips are added. Establish the finished bundle arrangement at the penetration and leave room for the intended bend on each side. The oval orientation should support that route without pulling the rubber away from one curved end. The panel groove must also fit the actual finished thickness along the whole perimeter.
Fit the grommet evenly before applying the final harness routing constraints, then inspect it again afterward. Pay attention to the narrow ends, where uneven loading may be less obvious from the front. Material and hardness can be customized for the environment around the panel. Following wiring changes, confirm that the harness remains separated from the opening edge and that the grommet has not rotated or lifted from its seat.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The design should account for the harness cross section and the way it approaches the opening, not just the overall panel hole size. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
