A rubber angled grommet can be developed for a cable route that does not continue straight out from a panel. The angled geometry places the protected passage in the direction required by the assembly. Its purpose remains to separate the cable from the cut edge while accommodating that change in orientation.
Define the exit direction relative to the installed panel, not just to a loose component on a bench. A correctly shaped part can still point the wrong way if its locating features allow unintended rotation. ETOL customizes the size, material and color for these nonstandard grommets.
The cable also needs enough space beyond the exit to follow its permitted bend. An angled rubber passage should not be used to force a cable around a sharper turn than its construction allows. Check the route with neighboring covers and brackets installed.
During fitting, avoid twisting the grommet to make the cable reach a nearby connection. Seat it in its designed orientation, then arrange the external support. Examine the inside of the bend during service for concentrated jacket contact, since wear may be hidden from the front of the panel.
