Product Overview

Comparing rubber grommet sizes starts with the opening in the panel, the thickness of that panel, and the cable that will pass through it. These measurements describe different parts of the fit. A large outer flange may cover an opening neatly while the mounting groove underneath is still too loose to stay in place.

ETOL offers a broad selection of grommets for protecting wires against exposed edges, with material, color and hardness options. For a replacement, measure the actual cutout rather than copying the outside diameter of an old, compressed part. Include paint or other finishes when assessing the finished panel thickness.

The center opening should accommodate the cable jacket without leaving it resting on the hard edge beneath the rubber. Where a connector must pass through during assembly, compare its size separately from the cable diameter; the two may require a different installation sequence.

For a group of similar entries, keep the dimensions associated with the same cross-section. Mixing an outside diameter from one profile with the groove width of another can produce a misleading comparison. Also check the space around the flange: a nearby panel bend or closely spaced second opening may restrict a size that would otherwise fit the hole. These surrounding clearances become particularly useful when consolidating several cable entries into fewer standard parts.

Once fitted, work around the rim to check that the groove has engaged all the way around. A flange that sits high on one side usually signals a seating issue rather than a need to pull the cable tighter.

Round Grommet Size Catalog

Choose a profile to compare part numbers and dimensions. Inch and metric sizes are listed in separate tables.

Type D Round Grommets in Inches

274 entries for Type D round through-hole grommets. Original fractions are retained, and exactly equivalent standard inch fractions replace decimal values where possible. Other values remain decimal inches.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
