A Rubber Waterproof Wiring Grommet sits around a panel opening to cushion the wiring and support the intended entry design. Its collars retain the rubber at the wall, while its central geometry must suit whatever passes through. Moisture control depends on that complete arrangement, including any space remaining beside the wires.
Changes to a harness can alter the entry even when the panel stays the same. Removing one wire may leave a gap; adding a sleeve may increase pressure against the rubber. Evaluate those changes at the actual opening instead of assuming the original grommet remains suitable for every wiring revision.
This offering includes material alternatives such as silicone, EPDM, FKM, nitrile, HNBR, neoprene and SBR. The appropriate choice depends on contact with the cable covering and the environment outside the enclosure. A common retaining shape does not establish equivalent behavior across all compounds.
During installation, seat the collars without trapping wiring beneath them. Inspect the finished entry from each accessible side and assess any required water exclusion with the wiring secured in its operating position. Repeat the entry assessment after a harness change, especially if a different cable covering or bundle shape changes the contact around the passage.
