Conductive pills beneath silicone rubber buttons need to arrive accurately over their corresponding circuit contacts. In a multi-button sheet, the locating arrangement must preserve that relationship across the whole array. A correctly centered visible key does not always reveal a shifted underside if the sheet has been stretched during fitting.
Position the board, keypad references, and enclosure apertures as a coordinated assembly. Stationary support areas should hold the part without constraining each button's flexible section. Check that any larger controls do not move the surrounding sheet enough to affect nearby contact alignment.
