A rubber sleeved grommet extends the protective interface away from the panel opening along a section of cable. The sleeve length should suit the available route and the location where the cable begins to bend freely. The retaining end and cable exit have different duties and should be developed together.
Custom material, dimensions, hardness and color options allow the part to fit the assembly. Define the cable jacket and any wrapping within the sleeve, along with the panel's finished thickness. If the design includes a sealing requirement, evaluate both the housing seat and cable contact under the intended exposure conditions.
During installation, support the sleeve so threading the cable does not turn its lip inward. Check that the panel retention remains fully engaged after the cable clips are secured. A sleeve pulled sideways can distort the bore even when its loose dimensions are correct.
Inspect the cable immediately beyond the sleeve during service. A pronounced bend or wear mark at that transition can reveal inadequate route support. If the sleeve repeatedly shifts, review its end locations and the forces from the harness rather than simply increasing its length. The final arrangement should preserve coverage where contact is actually expected.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The sleeve length should suit the available route and the location where the cable begins to bend freely. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
