A taper rubber grommet provides a shaped rubber interface at a panel passage. Its changing profile can influence insertion and the space available around the cable, so the direction of the taper matters during design and assembly. The narrow end should not be assumed to define the panel opening or the cable clearance.
Work from the retaining section that actually engages the panel. The groove width, shoulder dimensions and central passage each perform a different job. If the panel is too thick for the groove, the grommet may appear installed while one retaining edge remains folded underneath.
Check the seated part from both sides where access permits. The taper should leave the intended clearance for nearby connectors or cable bends without forcing the rubber against an obstruction. Insert the cable along the passage axis and avoid using it to drag the grommet into place. A clean, deburred opening helps prevent damage to the tapered wall during fitting and later cable movement.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The narrow end should not be assumed to define the panel opening or the cable clearance. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
