Product Overview

A silicone rubber grommet and plug range can serve enclosures that use the same opening with different wiring configurations. A grommet accommodates a cable, while a solid plug closes an unused position. Planning these parts together can simplify the housing layout without assuming that the two versions need identical internal geometry.

The panel interface may be shared, but the retention demands differ. A cable can pull or twist a grommet; a blanking plug may instead be exposed to accidental pushing during handling. Evaluate each version in its own installed condition, including access from inside the enclosure.

Custom size and color options can help distinguish populated and unused positions during assembly. Use the correct molded version for each opening rather than cutting a hole into a solid plug unless that operation is part of the developed design. After fitting, check for complete engagement around the panel edge. If an unused opening is later converted for a cable, reassess the routing and cable support as well as changing the rubber component.

Material options
Custom silicone or rubber formulation, with dimensions and color adapted to the mating component.
Hardness range
Silicone: 20–80 Shore A; rubber: 30–90 Shore A. Balance insertion flexibility with support around the opening. Use the correct molded version for each opening rather than cutting a hole into a solid plug unless that operation is part of the developed design.

FIND THE RIGHT FIT

Stopper & Plug Size Catalog

Choose a blind-hole, tapered, undercut or solid T-shaped profile, then compare its dimensions with the opening and available seating depth. Each profile has its own drawing and dimension meanings.

RST Blind-Hole Plugs

155 T-shaped plug sizes. Match shank diameter A, head diameter B, shank length C and head thickness D. E is the bottom blind-hole diameter; E = 0 indicates a solid shank.

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
