Rubber cable sleeve options in different sizes allow a cable protection design to be matched to more than one harness or enclosure. The useful distinction between sizes is the installed fit: cable bore, panel engagement and sleeve length should be identified separately. Two sleeves with similar outside diameters may have very different internal clearances.
For a product range, assign each version to the cable and panel combination it serves. A larger cable bore should not automatically mean a wider panel groove, particularly when several models share the same enclosure wall. Custom molding can preserve one interface while changing another, subject to the chosen geometry and material.
Identification can be added through color or suitable molded or printed marking. Place any marking where it remains visible without disturbing the cable contact area. On the assembly line, compare the actual part with the intended mounting position before threading the cable through it. After fitting, check that the sleeve is not dragged sideways by the harness. Wear should be assessed at the real contact points, including the sleeve exit, rather than assumed from material appearance.
