A round silicone rubber washer provides a circular contact layer around a central opening. The custom dimensions should match both the inner clearance and the outer supported area. The width of the rubber between those boundaries determines where it can contact the mating faces.
Check the receiving geometry for steps or recesses that change the usable area. A washer may have the right outside diameter but still overlap an unsupported opening at its inner edge. Thickness also needs to suit the final closed position and intended compression of the joint.
Avoid unnecessary stretching or excess fastening force. If used as a sealing gasket, evaluate the complete joint under its actual operating conditions. During replacement, inspect the adjoining faces for damage and preserve the required section so the new washer restores the designed contact rather than compensating for an uneven seat. Compare the inner and outer contact impressions after disassembly; a narrow mark at one boundary can reveal unsupported rubber elsewhere across the annulus.
