A cable harness rubber grommet protects the point where bundled wiring passes through a panel. It provides a compliant boundary around the cutout, with structure, material, size, hardness and color customized for the assembly. The useful fit is the one maintained after the harness is fully connected.
When several connectors branch from the harness, attach them without drawing all the spare length to one side of the panel. That can shift the bundle within the grommet or pull the retaining profile from its seat. Allow the harness to reach its connection points while its crossing remains naturally aligned.
Check the completed wrapping at the passage, including any local increase in diameter. The grommet should accommodate that finished shape rather than squeeze a thicker wrapped section through a bore chosen for bare wires. During final inspection, look for a lip caught beneath the harness and for ties positioned so close that they distort the entry. Revisit the same checks after a connector replacement changes the available wire length. A sound routing arrangement reduces concentrated rubbing at the panel boundary.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The grommet should accommodate that finished shape rather than squeeze a thicker wrapped section through a bore chosen for bare wires. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
