Product Overview

A rubber seal O-ring works with its groove and mating surface as a complete joint. When selecting among different sizes, the section diameter and the groove space are as important as the ring's overall diameter. Stretching a nearby size into place can alter its section and leave the joint with a different compression condition from the intended design.

Begin with the groove dimensions, the closing gap, and the surfaces that contact the seal. Identify whether the joint remains static or moves during operation, then select the rubber compound for the medium and temperature involved. A flat washer and a round section ring create different contact patterns, so they should not be substituted solely because their outer diameters match.

During installation, keep the ring free from twist and protect it from threads or sharp shoulders along the fitting route. Use an assembly aid only when compatible with the selected compound and the service medium. Close the joint evenly and inspect for pinching before operation.

For maintenance, investigate the location and shape of any damage. A cut near one edge may point to the installation route, while uneven flattening may indicate a closing gap problem. Replacing the seal with a harder or thicker part without resolving that geometry can introduce a different failure at the same joint.

Material options
Rubber. Custom formulation and color for the intended contact conditions.
Hardness selection
Rubber: 30–90 Shore A. Stretching a nearby size into place can alter its section and leave the joint with a different compression condition from the intended design.
Custom dimensions
When selecting among different sizes, the section diameter and the groove space are as important as the ring's overall diameter.
Fit & assembly
During installation, keep the ring free from twist and protect it from threads or sharp shoulders along the fitting route.
Use & inspection

Ordering this custom component

Can the shape be adjusted to my mating parts?

Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.

Which details should be agreed before tooling?

Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.

Can a sample help define the replacement?

A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.

How is the quotation for this part determined?

The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
